Green Fusion Design Center’s client: GreenCity Lofts

GreenCity Lofts – the Bay Area’s first large scale “green” condominium complex, was awarded a Special Green Building Proclamation by Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown. Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown presented a special proclamation to GreenCity Development Group (GCDG) on behalf of the City of Oakland for responding to Mayor Brown’s challenge to “build green.”

Living room flooring, finishes and furnishings were provided by Green Fusion. The kitchen table is made from Richlite (merlot) with an Azcast base. The table and dining room chairs (Azcast) are on display at GCL and are available through Green Fusion.

Green Fusion Design Center helped provide the expertise to GreenCity Lofts for eco-savvy options in flooring, finishes and furnishings. Green Fusion Design Center is the largest retail showroom for green building materials and natural home furnishings in the Bay Area. Green Fusion collaborated with GCDG by selecting green flooring and furnishing options that are not only beautiful and elegant -- they’re environmentally responsible. "Green Fusion is proud to be a part of the GreenCity Lofts team by creating healthy and sustainable options for urban living” said Greg Snowden, Owner and founder of Green Fusion Design Center.

A custom desk made from a Richlite (indigo) and woven bamboo plywood finished with AFM oil wax was created for the sales office. The desk was designed and fabricated by Skyside studios.

GreenCity Lofts is a soaring 62 unit complex located on the border of Emeryville and Oakland. Homes are offered in a diverse mix of loft, townhouse and single level plans and integrate the latest trends in energy efficiency, comfort, indoor air quality, resource conservation and durability. Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown says “GreenCity Lofts is a model of private sector green development and I am proud to have played a role in sparking this initiative. By issuing this proclamation, I am encouraging other developers to build green in Oakland.” GCDG is not the only developer interested in building green.

Green Fusion has consulted with such groups as Engstrom Design Group and Christopherson Homes to educate builders and bring “green” options from the fringe into the mainstream of the building industry. As green architecture and building materials become more familiar to developers, designers, builders and homeowners it becomes easier and easier to choose green.

Green Fusion Design Center’s mission is to promote the understanding and use of green building practices by connecting homeowners, design professionals, builders and the public with natural, eco-friendly, healthy products and services. Green Fusion’s goal simply put is to create a healthier environment; and by collaborating with developers such as GreenCity lofts Green Fusion is creating a way for other developers, and builders to embrace the same goal.
