The “Not
So Big” New Urbanism

This June, the world’s eyes will be on the U.S. as it hosts
the United Nations’ World Environment Day for the first time
in the event’s 33 year history. Mayors from the world’s
largest cities will meet in San Francisco to address sustainability
issues and green building is a key component of the urban environmental
agenda. Sarah Susanka and Andrés Duany, world renowned leaders
in their respective fields, will present an inspiring view and
lively discussion about the future of sustainable planning and
architecture. Presentation will be followed by a book signing in
the lobby. You are cordially invited to join us for these presentations!
About the Speakers:
- Sarah Susanka, FAIA – Cultural visionary,
architect and best selling author of The Not So Big House series,
has redefined the American home. Sarah emerged as a leader of
a movement toward quality design, and her "build better, not bigger" approach
to residential architecture has been embraced by homeowners,
architects and builders across the country.
- Andrés Duany, FAIA – Internationally
acclaimed architect, author and pioneer of The New Urbanism movement
is co-founder of The Congress for New Urbanism. His firm is noted
for over 140 traditional neighborhood design towns and cities
including award-winning Seaside. Andres is the co-author of Suburban Nation:
The Rise of Sprawl and the Decline of the American Dream.
