Healthy Home Event #2 - Solar Electric Systems for Residents

Saturday May 21, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

The second installment in The Healthy Home Event Series at Green Fusion Design Center centered on the topic of Solar Electric Systems. Solar power provides a reliable and safe way to lower utility bills, reduce dependence on dirty or foreign forms of energy, and become more self-sufficient. This workshop equipped homeowners to make informed decisions about how best to take advantage of this great opportunity. This training introduced concepts of solar electricity and addressed the more practical considerations of installing a solar electric (photovoltaic) system.

Another packed house!

Guest Speakers included Gwen Johnson from the Marin Solar Program and Elie Rothschild of Sustainable Spaces, who discussed:

  • Basic components of solar electric (photovoltaic) systems
  • How to know if your site is appropriate for a solar application
  • Approaching a solar contractor
  • Economics of going solar
  • The Marin County Solar Program

The Marin County Community Development Agency's Green Building Program co-hosted this event.
